Finsley Lecture - Spinosaurus

  • The Hughes-Trigg Center at Southern Methodist University,

Dr. Nizar Ibrahim is credited with rediscovering a valuable, rare dinosaur named Spinosaurus. He has been the subject of a National Geographic documentary which was the cover story for the October issue of the magazine. In addition, he succeeded in winning the number nine spot in Discover magazine’s 100 top stories of 2014competing in a world wide selection process. His interest with Spinosaurus began with pictures of a dinosaur discovered by Ernst Stromer in 1912. Dr. Ibrahims’ detective work led him on an amazing journey, guiding him back to the desert in Morocco where he had first encountered some tantalizing bones and then to an incredible discovery. His construction of a swimming-terrestrial dinosaur may spur the re-writing of many paleontology books, as we make room for the incomparable, Spinosaurus.
